Do not judge, just judge

Matthew 7:1-12

What does Jesus have to say about judging? Sometimes we define the Golden Rule as a prohibition of judging, but in truth, we can not live this way. Just after Jesus says "do not judge", he then states "Don't give dogs what is sacred, and do not throw your pearls to pigs." For one to follow this advice, one must judge who is a dog, who is a pig, and who is OK.

This brings the Golden rule to the front. We want honesty, not flattery, and we need mercy. As we work thru these passages, let us consider the nature of our judging, and the freedom that God has given us as believers.
