Sometimes we forget where we came from, and how far God has brought us. We begin to think that the gifts of God are our birthright, rather than the blessings bestowed on us by a God deeply in love with us.

We then use the gifts of our Husband to woo others to ourselves, considering the praise of men to be more important than the praise of our Husband.

This passage is filled with very graphic and disturbing images, which only begin to image what God's people have done to him. May it be a reminder to us how our attitudes and behaviors can hurt the God who married us and loves us deeply.
