temptation and priorities

Just after Jesus had such an incredible beginning to his ministry, the Holy Spirit dragged him out into the wilderness and made him fast for 40 days.

As Jesus did not have sins to confess, or a problem hearing the voice of God, just why did he have to do this? Was it simply so that he could relate to us, or was there something more significant? As we look at this real temptation of Christ, we see that it was important for him to work out his priorities before he got into the full swing of ministry.
